Introduction to Building Science

Course Description: This course is an introductory course to building science basics. Topics covered include heat, air, and moisture, how they interrelate in a home through laws of thermodynamics, air movement and temperature change. This course also examines ways to control heat loss, air leakage, and moisture flow to construct a more energy efficient and durable structure. Real world examples of charting the dew point, calculating the true R-value and controlling moisture within a wall assembly are used to help you understand building science concepts. This class is a two hour version of our four hour 'Building Science Review' course.
