#190 Basic Building Science
Course Description: This course is a brief overview of building science basics. Topics covered include heat, air, and moisture, how they interrelate in a home through laws of thermodynamics, air movement and temperature change. This course also examines ways to control heat loss, air leakage, and moisture flow to construct a more energy efficient and durable structure. Real world examples of charting the dew point, calculating the true R-value and controlling moisture within a wall assembly are used to help you understand building science concepts. Video case studies of homes with heat, air, and moisture problems take you to the field and help you apply the knowledge gained in this class to your own jobs.
This class is highly suggested for those seeking to obtain their BPI Building Analyst Certification.
